According to the Book of Genesis of the Hebrew Bible, Esau (pronounced /ˈiːsɔː/) (Hebrew עֵשָׂו, Standard Hebrew Esav, Tiberian Hebrew ʿĒśāw; Greek: Ἡσαῦ) was the fraternal twin brother of Jacob (whom God renamed Israel)—the patriarch and founder of the Israelites. Esau and Jacob were the sons of Isaac and Rebekah, and the grandsons of Abraham and Sarah. Esau was born first and when Jacob was born, he held onto Esau's heel (Genesis 25:26). Isaac was sixty years old when they were born, but Rebekah is believed to have been much younger. Abraham was still alive at that time, though he would have been 160 years old by that stage, and would live another fifteen years. As the first born, Esau was entitled to inherit the wealth of his father Isaac after his death. However, he sold his birthright to Jacob in exchange for a "mess of pottage" (meal of lentils) (Genesis 25:29–34). According to the Talmud, the sale of the birthright took place immediately after Abraham died. The Talmudic dating would give both Esau and Jacob an age of 15 at the time. From Wikipedia under the

Britain was settled by immigrants from Rome near the fall of the Roman empire. If Rome was founded by the descendants of Esau, who is (along with Jacob) the son of Isaac, is it proper to call the British the descendants of the Jews? Asked by ImagoDei - Tue Jun 23 03:22:41 2009 - - 5 Answers - 1 Comments A. answer: No, Britain was NOT settled by immigrants from Rome. Some Romans settled in Britain but there were inhabitants already there and many were not amused with the Romans (check out Hadrian's Wall, the Welsh and Boadicia's Rebellion). There wee Celts, Picts and others before Romans got there. No, Rome was not founded by the descendants of Esau, it was founded by the Etruscans. You need a serious history lesson, my friend. It is equivalent to " Jacob I chose, but Esau I rejected. In verses 6-13 Paul is clearly dealing with personal and not national election - he is not portraying the nation Israel ( Jacob ) over the nation Edom ( Esau ) - though Mal 1:1-2 does speak of the nations. Paul's intention is evident in the light of the problem he is addressing: How can God's promise stand when so many who comprise Israel ( in the OT collective sense ) are unbelieving and therefore cut off? Is God unjust? Unjust to elect on the basis of his sovereign freedom, as with Jacob and Esau.
