The capital is Carson City and the largest city is Las Vegas. The state's nickname is Silver State, due to the large number of silver deposits that were discovered and mined there. "Sagebrush State" and "Battle Born State" are its alternative nicknames. In 1864, Nevada became the 36th state to enter the union, and the phrase "Battle Born" on the state flag reflects the state's entry on the Union side during the American Civil War. Its first nonnative settlement was called Mormon Station. Nevada is the seventh-largest state in area, and geographically covers the Mojave Desert in the south to the Great Basin in the north. It is the most arid state in the Union. Approximately 86% of the state's land is owned by the U.S federal government under various jurisdictions both civilian and military. As of 2008, there were about 2.6 million residents, with over 85% of the population residing in the metropolitan areas of Las Vegas and Reno. The state is well known for its easy marriage and divorce proceedings, entertainment, legalized gambling and, in eight out of its 16 counties, legalized active brothels. From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License How to obtain hospital records in Nevada after a family member has died? Q. We have been told that we can not have my grandmother's hospital records and would need to go through probate court to get them. Is this true in the state of Nevada? What if we have a POA? Do we still need to go through probate court or should those records be made available to us. Asked by CARRIE C - Mon Nov 17 12:27:08 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Yes you will need to go through the probate court and get Letters Testamentary. The POA you have no longer works - its only good for so long as grandma was alive. If you already have a probate open, then the letters should already have been issued to the executor of the estate. If you have not already opened a probate, you need to do so. Answered by Specific - Mon Nov 17 12:45:30 2008 Is it illegal to have a Nevada license and your vehicle registered and insured in another state? Q. I just moved to Las Vegas, Nevada from Illinois, and my car is registered and insured by my dad who still lives in Illinois. The car is technically his, Im just driving it. I still have my Illinois Drivers License... would it be illegal for me to have a Nevada Drivers License and everything else from Illinois? And on the same level, do I have to get an emissions check? Asked by kiwi1774 - Wed Apr 8 16:17:27 2009 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments A. Well, by law in Nevada, you have 30 days from the date you moved here to get your Nevada license. As for the vehicle, it has to have Nevada insurance and registration on it. The good thing is that if you get pulled over you can play dumb and say you just moved here and didn't know any better and 99.9% of the time they will let you off with a warning. But then you are on their radar and will have to go and get those things done within 30 days. When we moved here from NY I had one month left of my NY insurance and I was going to just renew it and found out that I couldn't. You could probably get away with the registration and insurance if you maintained a story that 'you just brought the car out here'... licenses are not linked… [cont.] Answered by The cat did it. - Wed Apr 8 23:57:22 2009 How do I go about starting a real estate career with a Nevada home builder?
Q. I have been researching Nevada Home builders websites and they all clearly state that all sales applicants must hold a valid real estate license. Is there any way they would hire someone who just got out of school? Please answer asap Asked by decypher - Tue Apr 24 01:17:30 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Most likely you would not find a company that would hire for a sales position. I'm not positive about Nevada law, but in most states it's around 75 hours of classroom time and about $1000 total to take the classes and test to get licensed. Usually you can find the classes on the nights or weekends. The whole process should take about a month, and it's not incredibly difficult. By the way, with a volume builder, expect 6-8 months of solid work before you see your first commission check. There are a lot of agents due to the ease of getting the license, and a few years of a very strong housing market. The major builders like to stick their new agents in communities that have already been sold out, but still require an onsite agent for… [cont.] Answered by DZ - Tue Apr 24 01:39:16 2007 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Nevada"
