Q. My amp kicks 500w. I have a wiring kit that came with a 4 gauge wire for positive and ground terminals. The wire holds over 1000w, however the 4g is tooo big for the terminal. Any suggestions I could do with the wire to make it fit? If not, should I get a 8 gauge wire instead of 4? Also, if I split the wire and only use a minority of it in the terminal, will it still power correctly and work? Asked by fang gallo - Mon Oct 5 20:28:55 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. get a reducer. or make one your self.. get a terminal connector and cut one of the two prongs.. then just hook it up to the amp.. if your amp has a terminal with the allen screw then all you do is peel off the wire and unbraid it, cut off half of it and it'll be reduced..since your wire might be too thick make sure there is no bare wire touching the negative terminal on your amp..electrical tape can help..
